I am not even done with project one, nor am I close, but I really want to incorporate a geometric staircase idea somehow into this. Let's see if that comes to fruition

I've been working on on the mood board for the project for some time now and now I just keep adding things. I am glad I have started narrowing my ideas down to what sketches I have drawn thus far.

My project progression was slow today. I had my designs and was ready to go with my tornado idea. I have started the "lazy tornado" version of my idea and I like it but I have no clue how to get my mock up to float as it does in my drawing. The later option is to have a hanging sculpture, but I want the base to also be present for the whole concept to be visualized.
Right now, my project looks like a caterpillar stretching upward. It's not what I had in mind but it's a work in progress. I like the arch connections I have for the base. Somehow I'll keep it and transform them into rings suspended in the air

Before class, my professor introduced me to Alice Ayecock. I was so shocked because he sculptures were generally the same concept I was going with—a tornado shape. Although her pieces that were features in the Sculpture magazine were aluminum, browsing her form allowed me to devise a method for offsetting the heaviness of the metal I was using.

Happy March! T-minus six days until critique. I came early to plasma cut strips for the piece and I started bending them.

I completed the main body of the piece. Like I figured, it is top heavy so creating a base will be quite difficult. A classmate recommended a steel base from the scraps and I absolutely love it. It was the perfect weight to help balance out the weight. Though I fixed it some how, I have to firmly secure the swirling base around it.
