This installation was one that my mind kept going back to. The repetition of the straight line allowed me to be more focused on the design I was trying to make—in this case it was a mountainside within the negative. The original slits remained from the earlier ideas to possible become useful for a later version of this 100 objects. As far as the choice of lighting, playing with different source angles will be something I will continue to look into.

The plethora of images and ideas I made with the craft sticks left me a bit worried of how I will choose a direction to steer towards. The triangular shape with the craft sticks was neat because there are many arrangements I could make that I thought would be interesting for the viewer to look at. I really like it when pieces can engage the audience to look at how something was made. Whether that is getting up close and personal to see the physical lines of demarcation or just observing what was made based on the actual structure there, I myself like the investigation. My favorite was the bridge-like resemblance the triangle structure made, but I am unsure of how I can complete the concept behind the layout I was interested in.
Our working critique was a concept changer because of the placement of the craft sticks and my utilization of the wall space. It was chaotic, so the working title was "Transition State". While trying to blend the structured triangle pieces and wall arrangements, two separate concepts formed in my head. A piece with protruding elements—eventually— and/or tunnels with the triangle pieces.

Beginning phases are always the most difficult because it requires me to make such executive decisions early on. I chose rubber bands and sticks to play around with because I could get my hands on the quickly. I know my processing takes a while to finally get behind a concept for further exploration so I opted for these types of objects. I initially tried the think about mimicking my favorite outdoor landscape—mountains— to have an idea in place, but I also wanted to assess how well I could work with curves.

I never cease to amaze myself with the amount of ideas I can come up with at the last second. We did our list of 50 initial objects we could get out hands on for this project but the top categories I chose were: words, toothpicks, toilet tissue, rubber bands, and strips of metal. Each of which contains a significant meaning towards each idea, but for now I can hone in on one and hopefully the others will come to fruition some time in the future.
